The OAFI Foundation welcomed Dr. Marc Hochberg, an internationally recognized expert in the field of osteoarthritis (OA). Dr. Hochberg is Professor of Medicine and Chief of the Division of Rheumatology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He received his medical degree from Johns Hopkins University.
This meeting has allowed us to learn and move towards the empowerment of osteoarthritis patients. We discussed the importance of educational programs aimed at rising awarness on the disease iin helping to improve the management of osteoarthritis and, consequently, the quality of life of patients, particularly those at risk: athletes, women and elderly people. In addition, we have identified shared opportunities for research and collaboration in the field of OA that we will be explore in the coming months.
Dr. Vergés highlighted his long-standing professional relationship with Dr. Hochberg: “We have worked together for the last 15 years conducting clinical trials to successfully advance the treatment of osteoarthritis”, Dr. Hochberg praised the work of the Foundation: “OAFI is carrying out a very important work as an international organization for osteoarthritis patients to help them improve their quality of life.”
