  • The two associations sign a framework collaboration agreement with the Spanish Association for the Study of Menopause.

AECOSAR and OAFI have signed a collaboration agreement with a key multidisciplinary group in the diagnosis and care of the patient with osteoarticular pathology, often accompanied by other comorbidities, as is the SPANISH ASSOCIATION FOR THE STUDY OF MENOPAUSE (AEEM) , with the objective of establishing a framework of action for the collaboration of the parties in the development of actions of mutual interest, within the field of social responsibility and the health sector, such as, for example, the campaign of Prevention and Early Diagnosis; or the action of “OAFI With You”, among others.

Menopause and osteoarthritis and osteoporosis:

Menopause, “is a time in a woman’s life characterized by the cessation of menstruation, which initiates a stage of life known as climacteric. This stage represents the transition between the fertile period and old age. Despite not being a disease, it causes, in most women, bothersome symptoms that alter social and work dynamics.” The loss of bone mass, that is, of the amount of bone we have, is due to the decalcification suffered by them and that, in the cases of women, is intensified by the loss of the protective action that female hormones exert on them.

It is now known that there is a significant relationship between the decrease in bone mass and the risk of fractures. Early detection of excessive loss of bone mass in our body is the only way we can prevent the onset of osteoporosis and therefore fractures.

The INTERNATIONAL OSTEOARTICULAR FOUNDATION and the Spanish Association with Osteoporosis and Osteoarthritis are non-profit organizations of national and international scope based in Spain, whose main mission is to promote the rights and responsibilities of people suffering from diseases such as osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, sarcopenia and other osteoarticular pathologies.

Remember that if you have joint disease, or know someone who does, we encourage you to join OAFI and/or AECOSAR through our websites or by calling the contact telephone number: AECOSAR at 914312258, OAFI at 931594015.
