Together with the Osteoarthritis Foundation International (OAFI), Football Club Barcelona (FCB) and Ferrer International Laboratories, the Barça Players Association is participating in a clinical study aimed at combating osteoarthritis and contributing to the research, prevention and treatment of this disease. The football clubs Atlético de Bilbao and Athletic de Madrid are also taking part in this study.
The overloading of joints during sport has a very significant impact on joint health. A professional football player has three times more risk of needing a prosthesis than the general population (*). For this reason, and with former professional players in mind, the Barça Players’ Association organised a meeting for all the members of the Association during which OAFI presented the study.
The aim of this non-pharmacological clinical study is to validate the natural anti-inflammatory effectiveness of Omega 3 derivatives in relieving knee pain caused by osteoarthritis.
Omega-3 derivatives have no harmful effects on the body and can therefore be taken regularly by osteoarthritis patients. The aim of this study is to improve the joint health of ex-professional athletes as well as all people suffering from osteoarthritis. Participation in this study is free of charge for all ABJ members.
