OAFI, Teaming Up With The Best, to Change Oosteoarthritis

OAFI FOUNDATION HOSTED THE LAUNCHING OF THE ORGANIZATION EUROPEAN COOPERATION IN SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY

On January 23rd and 24th, in Barcelona, the OAFI Foundation hosted the launching of the European Cooperation in Science and Technology, (COST), a funding organization for research and innovation networks at European level in the field of osteoarthritis.

At these meetings, a new action program called Building a European Network on Osteoarthritis was worked on. It brought together some of the most important organizations in the old continent, as well as some of the best experts in the field. As its name suggests, the program aims to lay the foundations for joint action by different countries, with the aim of improving the quality of life of patients suffering from this pathology. With the participation of more than 23 countries, this first meeting served as a starting point for the development of this European strategy for the improvement of Osteoarthritis (OA).

How is it done?

To this end, different working groups have been developed. OAFI is co-leading, together with leading European associations and universities, an effective program to analyze demographic aging and its relationship with osteoarthritis. In addition, work will be actively pursued to gather information from other countries. The aim is to present these results to European health authorities. Both OAFI and the other stakeholders aim to improve the quality of life and the quality of care for people suffering from osteoarthritis.

Thus, OAFI continues to be at the forefront in the search and research for the improvement of knowledge and treatments related to osteoarthritis. This time, co-leading a great team of experts. Surely, this working group will have great results for the benefit of all.
